Motorcyclist injured in collision involving suspected DUI driver

SPANAWAY, Wash. — A motorcyclist was injured after being struck by a suspected impaired driver Sunday in Spanaway.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Robert Reyer tweeted at 7:51 p.m. that the crash occurred on southbound State Route 7 at Pirnie Road East, not far from the Super Walmart.

The motorcyclist was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, Reyer said.

Reyer said the driver of the car was arrested for driving under the influence.

The southbound left lane and center lane are currently blocked while authorities investigate.

Reyer has not said what led to the crash.
