Monroe police investigating fatal stabbing

Monroe police officers are investigating after responding to a reported fatal stabbing early Sunday morning.

Officers received a call about a death at an apartment in the 600 block of Terrace Street. The caller, who lived in the apartment, returned home with other roommates to find the victim, another roommate, dead from multiple stab wounds.

They also found a male in the apartment covered with blood and armed with two knives. The roommates and the suspect engaged in a brief struggle, and several people sustained injuries. The suspect was ultimately restrained by the roommates awaiting police arrival.

Police took the 28-year-old male suspect into custody. He will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail on charges of murder in the second degree and assault in the second degree.

Two of the roommates were treated for minor lacerations.

The identity of the victim will be released at a later time.

The case is still under investigation.
