MASON COUNTY, Wash. - Mason County will implement a burn restriction to take effect at 8 a.m. May 23.

County officials said yard debris, natural vegetation and land clearing fires will be restricted in the county.

The restriction is expected to stay in effect for the rest of the summer, officials said.

However, recreational fires in an approved fire pit, such as campfires, will not be restricted.

Officials said although there has been rain in recent days, there has been significant wildfire activity in the county this year.
