Police seek suspect after 2 deaths at Kent transient camp

KENT, Wash. — The body of a man who had been shot was found Saturday afternoon in a Kent transient encampment.

The man had an "obvious gunshot wound," police said. The homicide location was a transient camp along 88th Avenue SE in Kent. [Henry Rosoff is working on a report for KIRO 7 at 5 p.m.]

"This a remote location down a long drive in a wooded area," Kent police said in a release. "And the Kent Police Department had previously been unaware of the existence of this camp."

The death is believed to be related to another homicide that occurred Friday around the same general area. An adult woman was killed in Friday's incident, police said.

A suspect in these cases is described by police as a white man with short, reddish hair and an unshaven appearance. Police say he may be riding a dark-colored bicycle with a basket over the rear wheel and was last seen wearing a white tank top.

The weapon involved has not been recovered. The suspect is considered armed and should not be approached by the public, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kent police right away.
