Man high on meth, PCP attacks customers with shard of glass

BALLARD, Wash. — A man believed to be high on methamphetamine and PCP shattered a downtown Ballard window and attacked customers with a shard of glass.

According to the Seattle Police Department, the suspect was yelling and shouting at customers in the 2300 block of NW Market Street on Saturday.

Witnesses say the 22-year-old man kicked out a massive window pane next to the front door of a Market street restaurant.

The suspect then picked a piece of glass, walked into the dining room and began menacing customers.

The man followed the fleeing customers out of the shop and encountered a man and a woman coming out of a nearby consignment shop.

The suspect attacked the man and woman with his glass shard, injuring them both.

The man and woman fought back and eventually disarmed the man, Seattle police say.

Passersby immediately wrestled the man to the ground until police arrived.

Officers arrested the man and called for medics to treat the man and woman who had been attacked.

The suspect is being treated at a hospital. Once released, he will be booked into the King County Jail and charged for felony assault and malicious mischief.
