A man is missing and a woman was rescued from the water after they went floating on the Washougal River on Saturday evening, according to police.

Crews were dispatched Saturday at about 8:15 p.m. to the 38700 block of Northeast Washougal River Road for a woman screaming for help. A 28-year-old woman was found pinned by her legs neck-deep in the water. After two hours, the woman, by then unconcious, was removed from the water and taken to a hospital for treatment where she told police what happened.

The night before, she and a 30-year-old man were rafting in the water. At one point their two separate inner tubes were swept into the fast current. Both people fell out of the inner tubes, after which the woman became trapped and the man floated farther down the river.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office Marine Unit began looking for the missing man. Police have found a car, the empty raft and other items belonging to the man.

The missing man is described as having shoulder-length brown hair and a short brown beard, and was last seen wearing black pants and a black t-shirt.

The investigation and search are still active.
