Man charged with arson in motel fire northwest of Seattle

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — A 60-year-old man has been charged with setting fire to a motel northeast of Seattle.

The Kitsap Sun reports (https://goo.gl/l3275g ) Stephen Geisner was charged with arson Friday after a Thursday fire that forced the indefinite closure of the Blue Water Inn.

The fire at the inn in Kingston displaced about 20 people. One person was treated for smoke inhalation.

Authorities say Geisner was found in the woods nearby holding a shower curtain rod. Kitsap County Sheriff's deputies were able to grab the rod away from him and take him into custody.

Deputies said he told them he started the fire. Geisner remains in jail on $150,000 bail.
