Man breaks into Tacoma home, starts fire in bathroom while family is sleeping

TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma police are investigating after a man broke into a home and started a fire Wednesday night.

Investigators said the incident happened in the 1300 block of East 58th Street at about 10 p.m.

According to police, the man broke into the home through a back door while a family was sleeping. The man then locked himself in the bathroom and started a fire.

The 30-year-old man was taken into custody.

The man was booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary and first-degree arson.
