SEATTLE — Seattle police West Precinct officers said a man armed with a wooden club first hit a victim on the back of the head and later targeted an officer and her police vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

After attacking the man, he ran from the scene. The victim was treated by medics and did not want to go to the hospital.

The suspect was later found by Seattle police and Department of Corrections officers, and as they moved in to arrest him, the man charged at an officer’s car, repeatedly smashing it with the club.

Police said the man focused on the driver’s side window, and was obviously targeting the officer inside.

The officer at first tried to back away, but when the suspect ran away, she got out of the car to run after him.

At some point, the police car coasted backward into another Seattle police car behind it, damaging it.

The suspect was immediately stopped by DOC officers, with help of arriving SPD officers.

He was arrested for investigation of felony assault and multiple misdemeanors but was not able to be booked into the King County Jail due to a medical condition.

He was taken to the hospital and was to remain under guard until he can be booked into jail.

No officers were hurt but the damaged police car was towed away to be repaired.
