SPANAWAY, Wash. — A man was arrested Friday morning after a witness saw him lighting brush fires in Spanaway.
Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Darren Moss said a witness called 911 at 5:18 a.m. after seeing a man with a gas can setting a fire next to a bus stop near Walmart on Eighth Avenue and State Route 7.
While state patrol troopers were on their way to the scene, the man set a second fire, Moss said.
Troopers and Pierce County deputies took the suspect, who was uncooperative, into custody.
None one was hurt.
The man in his 30s was booked into jail for investigation of arson.
