A man was taken into custody Monday after deputies say he punched a woman in the face at the Shoreline Library.
At 10:15 a.m., a man walked to the library’s customer service desk, where a 61-year-old woman was working.
According to probable cause documents, the man “walked straight up to her after mumbling something about keys and punched her in the face.”
Investigators said the woman fell to the ground and was bleeding.

The woman told deputies the man kicked her at least twice while she was down before he fled.
Medics took the woman to the hospital to be treated for a broken nose and laceration above her eye.
Witnesses told deputies that they spotted the suspect at a nearby bus stop.
According to probable cause documents, when a deputy approached him, the suspect yelled, “Yeah, I did it. And I’ll do it to anyone that steals my shirt! Just take me to the pen.”
The man was detained, and the victim positively identified him.
