MAY DAY: Violent 'riot' erupts in Olympia; tensions high in Seattle

Tensions were high between protesters and police as May Day demonstrations unfolded in Western Washington, with the most chaotic event in Olympia.

In Olympia:

Protesters threw rocks at Olympia police, and officers responded with flash bangs to move the crowd after a May Day protest turned violent. Officers now call it a riot.

In Seattle:

Demonstrations started to get heated mid-evening after anti-Trump and pro-Trump protesters verbally clashed at Westlake Park. As every year, the permitted immigration workers’ rights march rallied for hours in downtown Seattle, peacefully.
