SEATTLE — Employees of Seattle-based Jones Soda are surprising health care and grocery store workers with free soda during the coronavirus pandemic.
Company officials said employees drive to different locations every day to drop off free packs of soda. They’ve also partnered with Zeeks Pizza to provide food.
The company said it came up with the idea as a way to help frontline workers “enjoy a well-deserved Jones Soda Break.”
“Jones wanted to take action and support frontline workers both in hospitals because of their incredible work. In addition, we also wanted to recognize grocery workers for all they do to support Jones,” a spokesperson for Jones Soda said in a news release.
In the past week, Jones Soda said it has delivered about 1,000 bottles/cans of soda to hospitals and grocery stores in Seattle.
While the company said it decided to start in Seattle, it plans to expand the soda breaks across the U.S. and Canada.
It’s also asking fans on social media for recommendations on where the next soda break should be.
