Human remains found at end of March in Olympia identified

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Human remains of a woman discovered at the end of March off Martin Way East in Olympia have been identified.

The Thurston County Coroner said the remains were that of 20-year-old Marea A. Hines.

Hines’ body was discovered by someone walking in a wooded area in the 3100 block of Martin Way. They removed some debris and found the decomposing body in the woodline about 100 feet off the road.

Hines, also known as Red, had been homeless for the past two years and frequented Olympia-area homeless encampments, according to the Olympia Police Department.

Police said her death was an act of homicide.
