UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. — Deputies are investigating a homicide in University Place.
Officers were called at about 6:35 p.m. to the 2400 block of 70th Avenue West for a domestic violence call, according to a Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
When deputies arrived, they found a woman, 43, dead and placed a 21-year-old man in handcuffs for the alleged killing his mother. He reportedly turned himself in without incident.
Deputies said he was living with his mother, adding they are now awaiting a warrant.
“Once the warrant is secured, they’ll go inside and scan and document the scene, take photographs and video and then the detectives will try and piece together what happened tonight, with the suspect’s statement try to verify what he said happened,” said Sgt. Darren Moss Jr.
Authorities said it did not appear that anyone else was in the apartment during the shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing.
