The four occupants who were on the top floor when the fire started were out of the house in Seattle's Highland Park neighborhood when firefighters arrived. No one else was in the home.

The fire is under control, but smoke continues to billow over the two-story home as crews continue to put out hot spots Tuesday morning.

Fire crews had to fight the flames from the outside because the floors and stairwells had collapsed inside.  The home is a total loss.

Some vehicles in the garage also burned in the fire.

Red Cross is helping the displaced family.
