Hackers post ‘vile, disgusting and disturbing language’ on school district’s website

KIRKLAND, Wash. — The Lake Washington School District said its website was hacked and “vile, disgusting, and disturbing language” was posted.

The district began getting reports that the site was hacked shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday.

District officials said in a statement that the language posted was filled with hate, racism and “is completely unacceptable.”

“Lake Washington SD does not, in any way, condone this type of language and we are saddened that this action is intentionally trying to hurt people of certain races and cultures.”

District leadership said they would get to the bottom of the hack and apologized to everyone who saw the page.

“LWSD is committed to all our of our students, staff and families and in this moment, we stand united in protecting our community as anti-racist educators and leaders,” the statement said.
