Gunfire rings out near library in Rainier Valley

SEATTLE — People dived for cover when shots were fired Thursday afternoon in Seattle’s Rainier Valley.

Chopper 7 flew over Rainier Beach Library, located in the 9100 block of Rainier Avenue South. The library is located near where a man reportedly started firing shots at about 3:30 p.m.

The shooter reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle, and no injuries were reported.

Some of the bullets reportedly may have hit the library and cars in the area.

Investigators climbed the roof of an old Jack in the Box to check things out in the area.

The incident remains under investigation.
