Groove Nation Band prepares to perform New Year’s Eve at Seattle Center Armory

You’ve probably heard them at restaurants, casinos, hotels, and events. This group of five consider themselves a family, and have been connecting with their audiences through their passion for music.

This Saturday’s New Year’s Eve celebration at the Seattle Center Armory is Groove Nation’s way of getting in tune with everyone.

“Being able to turn the page as a community and being able to celebrate together, especially with my new band that I appreciate so much, I’m over the moon,” said Virginia Martin, lead vocals.

The Seattle Center Armory is hosting New Year’s Eve with activities all night long, from Groove Nation kicking things off at 8 p.m., to a dance party outside the fountain, and finally finishing off with fireworks by the Space Needle.

But for the band, getting to this point wasn’t easy. COVID had them re-evaluate everything from new members to new gigs. Playing at the Armory has been a gig years in the making.

“We were booked actually for 2020 again because of COVID, that had to be canceled,” said Ben Pizzaro, drummer and band manager. “Fast track to 2021, we were booked and that was canceled. Third time’s the charm for this show so hopefully we can ring in 2023 this time.”

Groove Nation is starting their set at 8 p.m. and playing until just minutes before the New Year’s Eve countdown. They say this opportunity is both gratifying and humbling.

“I feel what we do as performers is we take people out of their stressful lives, whatever is going on in their minds, just a couple hours to celebrate in a group, dance, have fun and leave all that behind for just a moment.” Martin said.

As the clock strikes midnight, the Space Needle will set off fireworks as well as 200 drone designs! The event is free to the public and bringing the entire family is encouraged. Come early to find parking and be ready to dance and sing in the New Year!
