Former Washington governor Gary Locke.

Former Washington Governor Gary Locke and his wife, former KIRO 7 and KING reporter Mona Lee Locke, divorced in 2015, KIRO 7 learned Friday.

The decree of dissolution was filed April 15, 2015, though news reports still referred to them as married in 2016 stories. KIRO 7 received a tip about the divorce Friday and looked at the King County Superior Court case.

The Lockes have three children, Emily, Dylan and Madeline.

"We have been divorced for a couple of years now but remain committed parents and good friends," Mona Lee Locke said Friday. "That's why we continue to collaborate on fun projects like co-chairing the Terracotta exhibit at  the Pacific Science Center."

Gary Locke was Washington governor from 1997 to 2005, following his three years as King County Executive and more than a decade in the Washington House of Representatives.

From 2009 to 2011, Locke was the United State Secretary of Commerce and later spent nearly three years as the U.S. ambassador to China.

Mona Lee Locke also is the former executive director of Susan G. Komen Puget Sound. Recently she has spoken out about sexual harassment, encouraging people to share their stories on her Facebook page, Facebook.com/WeStandTogether.
