Flames rip through abandoned house in Fife

FIFE, Wash. — Tacoma firefighters knocked down a fire at an abandoned house in Fife early Thursday.

Crews arrived at the two-story house in the 500 block of 56th Avenue East around 3:30 a.m. They found the home and an adjacent RV on fire and wires down at the front corner of the house.

Crews had to remove boards covering the doors and windows and then fought the fire from outside the home because of reported holes in the floors.

An aerial stream from a ladder truck was used to fight flames on the second floor.

The fire has since been knocked down but crews remained at the scene to make sure all hot spots were out.

The utility company was called to manage the downed wires.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
