Firefighters working to contain 250 acre fire near Wenatchee

Firefighters are working to contain the ‘Tenth Street Fire’ in Douglas County near East Wenatchee. The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire started on Saturday around 3:36 p.m. and is estimated at 250 acres.

State fire assistance was approved on Saturday at 9 p.m. at the request of Deputy Fire Chief Andy Davidson from the Wenatchee Valley Fire Department.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says local firefighting resources continued to work into the night and reported no fire growth overnight. State Fire Mobilization resources arrived and took over control of the fire Sunday morning.

“It is burning in grass and sagebrush and is threatening homes, crops, and infrastructure,” said the State Fire Marshal’s Office in a news release.

All Level 1 fire evacuation was lifted but State Fire Mobilization resources will keep patrolling the fire’s perimeter throughout the day.

The State Fire Marsha’s Office asks people to continue to avoid the area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
