Fire damages home, daycare center in Monroe

MONROE, Wash. — A home-based daycare center was damaged by fire Friday in Monroe.

Firefighters were called before 4:30 p.m. to the 340 block of North Kelsey Street.

Three adults escaped, and no children were inside. One person was treated for smoke inhalation, according to the Snohomish County Fire District.

The blaze was contained and crews now are checking for hotspots. The cause is under investigation.
