Family of man murdered in Redmond pleads for help finding killer

REDMOND, Wash. — The family of the young man murdered at a New Year's Eve party last year are pleading for help finding his killer.

Adrian Anguiano, 20, was a party at a Redmond apartment complex on when he was killed, Jan. 1, 2017.

Anguiano's family sat down with KIRO-7 Eastside reporter Alison Grande to talk about him with the hopes someone remembers something that could help police catch his killer.

"Our brother's in heaven, he's passed away. He's not with us, but we need to have justice for our family, to know whoever did it is behind bars," said Mayra Mora, Anguiano's sister.

Anguiano grew up in Yakima. He moved to Tukwila to live with his older brother. He loved his family, to play soccer and his dog.

"We were always close. He was next to my hip for soccer matches, tournaments, I always wanted to play with him. I babied him, I didn't want him to get hurt - nobody wants to see their little brother get hurt," said Rafael Anguiano, Adrian's Anguino's older brother.

He went to the New Year's Eve party with a new friend that night.

Investigators said there was so much smoke from marijuana and people smoking that it set off the smoke alarms at the clubhouse at Trails at Redmond apartment complex, located at 16800 NE 39th Court in Redmond.

When people were evacuated outside someone fire a gun and shot Adrian Anguiano in the neck. He died from his injuries.

Police have interviewed many people who were at the party. They are still looking to talk to more witnesses. They believe someone saw something that can help them solve this case.

They said alcohol and drugs were being used at the party, and they don't want that to keep people from coming forward.

"We want to make it very clear we're not concerned about what illicit activity was happening, what we're concerned about is solving this murder," said Andrea Wolf-Buck, with the Redmond Police Department.

"The people that were there, please come forward and say what they saw, what they heard, or even if they've heard from someone that knows something," Mayra Mora said.

"Come forward, come clean," Rafael Anguiano said. "We want justice for our brother but also don't want this to happen to another family."

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), any tips can be anonymous. There is a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. You can also call the Redmond Police Department 425-556-2500.
