Everett police commit additional resources to package theft operation

EVERETT, Wash. — With the increase in deliveries during the holiday season, Everett police are committing additional resources to arresting thieves stealing packages off porches.

For their “Package Theft Operation,” police will be increasing their patrols and community education efforts. Property crimes detectives have enlisted the aid of their anti-crime team, bicycle unit, criminal intelligence unit and crime analysts.

Working with local delivery companies and package theft victims, police have identified areas of high theft and will be deploying bait packages with tracking devices.

“We know package theft is a growing problem based on criminal reports, community complaints and working with local delivery companies as more people shop online,” said police in a Facebook post.

Everett residents are asked to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods to 425-407-3999.
