Eastside police looking for mask-wearing, 'prolific' armed robber

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Police agencies across the Eastside have connected six armed robberies to the same mask-wearing suspect, who has held workers at gunpoint from Bellevue to Kirkland, to Redmond.

Police say the suspect has robbed a Factoria smoke shop, two battery stores and three Subway shops, from Oct. 5 to Nov. 24.

"We are so scared now," said a Subway manager who asked not to be identified. "He's doing this almost every week."

"Absolutely, the public should be concerned," said Bellevue Police Major John McCracken.

"This is a person who is carrying a gun and committing these armed robberies and it's hard to say what could potentially set that person off."

Police say in every case, he has obscured his appearance behind white sunglasses and black rubber gloves. They say he's around six feet tall with a slender build.

"He definitely doesn't want us to figure out who he is," said McCracken. "He's wearing gloves and in four of the cases, he's wearing specifically white sunglasses over his eyes."

Bellevue Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect to call their tip line at 425–452–2564. Tips can also be made to PDtipline@bellevuewa.gov.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a man 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet, 2 inches, weighing roughly 170-200 pounds. They also say he frequently wears white-rimmed glasses outside a black mask.
