TACOMA, Wash. — A man has been arrested in Tacoma after a fatal hit-and-run Sunday morning, police said.
South Sound 911 received a call at approximately 5:45 a.m. about a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at East 44th and Portland Avenue.
Officers arrived within minutes. An 18-year-old man died at the scene.
A citizen followed the suspect vehicle and obtained their license plate number. Officers were then able to locate the 32-year-old male driver and detained him without incident.
The driver was booked into the Pierce County jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide and felony hit-and-run, along with other related charges.
The Tacoma police collision investigation team and crime scene technicians responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate.
