SEATTLE — Parts of three highways were closed for several hours Tuesday morning after a power outage in the Burien and Highland Park areas.
All have since reopened.
All lanes of northbound SR 599 in Tukwila were blocked just south of SR 99 Wednesday morning due to power lines on the road.
Traffic was diverted onto Tukwila International Boulevard to go north.
In addition, traffic on southbound SR 99 was being diverted to exit at Des Moines Memorial Drive South.
In Seattle’s South Park neighborhood, southbound SR 509 was also closed at Cloverdale Street due to a power-related issue.
Seattle City Light said power was cut to 8,400 customers after a transformer wire fell on a distribution wire in the Burien and Highland Park areas.
Shortly before 7 a.m., City Light said power had been restored for 7,900 customers.
Power for the remaining customers was expected to be restored by 9 a.m.
All three highways were reopened by 7:30 a.m.
Southbound SR 99 traffic is being diverted to exit at Des Moines Memorial Dr. S. (milepost 25) and continue on that route before getting back on the highway past S. 116th St.
