GRAHAM, Wash. — A man is dead after he was shot by a Pierce County deputy in Graham.
Deputies were called to a domestic violence incident between a father and his adult son at the Meridian Terrace Mobile Home Park near 194th and Meridian at 10:54 p.m. Monday.
The caller told dispatchers the son was armed with a .22-caliber pistol and was waving it around outside. The caller said the gun had been taken away from him and hidden, but the son was going in and out of the trailer repeatedly looking for it.
Dispatchers said during the call, they could hear the son yelling at his father.
When Pierce County deputies arrived, the son came out of the trailer armed with a knife and confronted deputies.
One deputy fired shots and the man was hit in the chest. Deputies tried to save the man’s life after calling medics, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Guns and a knife were recovered at the scene.
