PROSSER, Wash. — Benton County deputies said a man suspected of shooting and killing his wife in Prosser was taken into custody Sunday night.

Silvestre Rojas Fuentes, 55, was found in the Union Gap area about 8:15 p.m., officials said.

Authorities said he was found on Main Street and East Ahtanum Road and was taken into custody without incident.

On Saturday night, officials said deputies were called for a report of an unresponsive woman found inside a home in the 17000 block of N 1083 PR Northwest.

When deputies arrived, they performed CPR on a 51-year-old woman, who had several gunshot wounds to the chest, but she was pronounced dead, law enforcement officials said.

After investigating, officials said there was probable cause to arrest the woman's 55-year-old husband for investigation of second-degree murder. Fuentes was not at the home at the time.

Investigators believe Fuentes was driving a 1989 red Ford Bronco with a cream-colored top and Washington license plate BAP2794.

Authorities believe Fuentes had a firearm on him.

Officials said deputies could not find the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting during the initial investigation.

After the Benton County Sheriff's Office Gang Unit received information on Fuentes whereabouts, multiple agencies assisted in arresting him in Union Gap.
