LAKE CUSHMAN, Wash. — Mason County deputies are searching for a man and woman wanted for murder and kidnapping after a woman’s body was found near Lake Cushman this month.
On Friday, deputies received a call of a body found off Forest Service Road 24 near the intersection with Highway 119 in the Lake Cushman area. Investigators said it was a woman’s body and it was apparent that it was a homicide.
An autopsy identified the victim as Rachell Rene Roberts. Deputies said she was assaulted, and the medical examiner found signs of suffocation.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol and the FBI have been investigating the homicide over the week.
On Thursday, deputies said evidence led them to request two arrest warrants for 37-year-old Mathew Collett and 28-year-old Kylie Kadeen Craig, who are wanted on suspicion of murder and kidnapping.
Collett is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 180 pounds with blue eyes and bald. Craig is described as white, 5 feet 3 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown eyes and brown-blond hair.
The two could be driving a red 2013 Hyundai Elantra with Washington plate BTX1364.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the public in locating the two suspects. People should not confront them because they are considered armed and dangerous.
