Deputies with the Clallam County Sheriff's Office pulled a dog from a burning car Thursday morning on I-90.
Officials said a woman had just left her son's home in North Bend and was driving to Oklahoma when her car erupted in flames.
The woman was able to pull the vehicle to the side of the road and escaped safely.
Deputies who were en route to pick up an inmate in Yakima noticed the car was on fire and pulled over to help.
The deputies said the car was fully engulfed and they were able to save the woman's dog as the fire spread inside.
The car ended up being a total loss, officials said.
