Deputies with Pierce County Search & Rescue helped rescue two hikers who were lost in the woods outside of Buckley late Wednesday.
The hikers had wandered off a trail into a heavily-wooded and swampy area and were stranded at the base of a 300-foot hillside, deputies said.

Two deputies and a firefighter from East Pierce Fire & Rescue used a high-angle ropes system to reach the hikers.
The rescuers placed harnesses on the hikers and they were pulled back up the hill.
Deputies said the hikers were cold and tired but not injured.
