Gunshot victim dropped off at Puyallup hospital identified

PUYALLUP, Wash. — A death investigation is underway after a woman with a life-threatening gunshot wound was dropped off outside Good Samaritan Hospital on July 3 and later died, Puyallup Police Department said.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 21-year-old Kayla Kulow of Tacoma.

Law enforcement said someone in a car dropped Kulow off at 8 a.m. in the ambulance bay and then fled.

Detectives called the death suspicious and asked for help in finding the person, who was later found, as well as the car they were in.

Police tweeted at 9:43 p.m. that detectives had located the person of interest.

The Puyallup Police Department said it had determined the incident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and the investigation was turned over to them.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Kulow to raise money for funeral expenses and to help care for her daughter.
