City of Seattle temporarily easing some parking restrictions

Seattle is temporarily easing some parking restrictions to better support residents and businesses during the coronavirus pandemic, Mayor Jenny Durkan announced Saturday.

“As the pandemic continues, we’re seeing more and more residents smartly stay in their homes, and no one should be punished for following public health guidance and preventing community spread,” Durkan said in a press release.

The city is temporarily suspending the 72-hour parking rule in residential parking zones for at least two weeks. Cars without permits will still have to obey time limits.

Towing will be limited only to situations that create safety hazards, block access or create other major issues. Vehicles with unpaid parking tickets will not be booted as long as the Seattle Municipal Court is closed.

SDOT is also installing temporary loading zones at restaurants to make quick food pickups easier.
