Car in fatal Auburn hit-and-run found burning in South Seattle

SEATTLE — The car involved in the fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian in Auburn on Easter Sunday was found burning in South Seattle, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said Stanley Christopher was walking on the shoulder lane of southbound SR 167 to westbound SR 18 with a friend as they were on their way to get gas.

Christopher was hit and killed when a vehicle drove onto the shoulder lane.

Witnesses and evidence at the scene led police to identify the suspect’s car as a white 2006 Ford Crown Victoria, with a missing front bumper, broken windshield and a missing driver’s side mirror.

That vehicle was found burning at 56th Avenue South and South Willow Street in South Seattle at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday. Police and firefighters arrived and identified the vehicle as the one in the hit-and-run.

The suspect is still at large.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
