Can you help identify Bellevue looting suspects?

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Bellevue police are asking for the public’s help identifying three suspects involved in the looting May 31.

A man in a red coat and blue hat was caught on camera throwing a rock through the door at J. Lewis Jewelry in Bellevue. About 20 looters climbed inside the store.

Police said the man’s accomplice is a woman in a black shirt with her hair in braids. She has a tattoo on her right wrist that they hope someone will recognize.

Detectives are also looking for the man who set a truck on fire. He was wearing a uniquely styled mask and was holding what police think was a firework.

Investigators said these three suspects are not protesters. Instead, they came to Bellevue to take advantage of the situation. Bellevue police were overwhelmed, monitoring the peaceful protest when they said hundreds of looters targeted Bellevue Square and surrounding businesses. They’ve already made more than two dozen arrests.

Rick Froton owns the business All American Maintenance. He was in Bellevue boarding up businesses. He saw the mob of looters headed to the jewelry store and told them the store had been closed due to the pandemic and that the jewelry had already been removed. He said looters broke in anyway. Later, the man in the unique mask threw a firework into his truck, and it was a total loss. Froton, who does work with many Bellevue businesses, said Michael’s Toyota helped him replace the destroyed truck.

“I’m sure this young man will be caught as well. It was meaningless. I don’t know what he got out of it. I pray for him. I hope he can change his life,” said Froton.

Crimestoppers of Puget Sound is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest of the suspects. You can call Bellevue police or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
