Suspect in custody after standoff in South Hill

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — A man has been taken into custody following a standoff at a South Hill home on Wednesday evening.

Deputies and SWAT officers were called to the 9200 block of 118th Street East.

Pierce County Sheriff Sgt. Darren Moss Jr. said the man broke into a home and barricaded himself inside.

The suspect also had warrants out for his arrest for second-degree assault and a previous burglary, Moss said in a Twitter post.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said SWAT members were able to convince the man to surrender.
