Brandi Carlile, Caspar Babypants among Northwest nominees for Grammy Awards live Sunday on KIRO 7

Northwest native Brandi Carlile is a performer and presenter at Sunday’s Grammy Awards live on KIRO 7, and she’s one of several local artists with ties to the show.

Red carpet coverage starts at 4 p.m. on KIRO 7. The show starts at 5 p.m., and Grammy coverage is followed by KIRO 7 News.

Carlile is one of the nominees for Song of the Year and Best Country Song for her work on Tanya Tucker’s “Bring My Flowers Now.” She’s also nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Maren Morris. (You can watch Carlile’s 2006 interview with KIRO 7 below.)

Chris Ballew, formerly of the Presidents of the United States of America and known now as Caspar Babypants, is nominated for Best Children’s Album for his 2019 release “Flying High!”

Barry Ament and Jeff Ament (who also is Pearl Jam’s bassist) are nominated for the Best Recording Package for their work on “Chris Cornell.”

Billie Eilish and Lizzo, both nominated for the top four Grammys, are expected to perform. So is Aerosmith.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton also are expected to hit the stage on Sunday. The Grammy Awards will be live on KIRO 7 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Alicia Keys is the host of the Grammys for a second time. Eilish and Lizzo, the leading nominee with eight, will compete for album of the year, song of the year, record of the year and best new artist.
