EVERETT, Wash. — Boeing on Friday postponed the first flight of the 777X for the second straight day because of weather.
The new wide-body jet taxied to the head of the runway in Everett Friday morning, where it sat waiting for a break in the weather that never came.
Boeing scrapped the flight at 1:30 p.m. because and said it would try again Saturday.
The first flight was originally scheduled for Thursday.
The company is betting big on the newest version of the jet.
Washington competed hard to build the plane in Everett, with the legislature giving Boeing a record $8.7 billion tax break.
“This airplane to me, it’s the flagship of the airline fleets, the big airlines around the world and it’s really the marquee airplane,” said Wendy Sowers of Boeing. “It’s a great representation of the great things we can we do as a company.”
