Body of hiker recovered near Vesper Peak in Snohomish County

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — A search and rescue team recovered the body of a man who died while hiking Vesper Peak in Snohomish County over the weekend, officials said.

The man’s girlfriend called officials Saturday night to report him overdue. He was supposed to return from a day hike around 8 p.m., but hadn’t been heard from.

Search and rescue teams responded to try and find him, and the sheriff’s office helicopter flew the area Sunday morning. Around 1 p.m., they found the body in a creek.

The rescue team hiked to the creek and recovered the body from the water.

The body was flown to Taylor’s Landing where it was taken into custody by the Snohomish County Medical Center, who will provide ID and cause and manner of death.
