Bicyclist struck by van in Seattle's International District

SEATTLE — A bicyclist is being treated after they were struck by a van in Seattle's International District.

The crash happened at Sixth Avenue and Jackson Street at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The 62-year-old man who was hit has serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries that include multiple broken bones.

Paramedics who happened to be driving by witnessed the crash and took the man to Harborview.

People at the scene said the area is infamous for cyclists going too fast and running red lights, but police have not said who is responsible for the crash.  An investigation is underway.

The driver of the van, who police say showed no signs of impairment, stayed at the scene.
