Around the Sound: Paws & Pride

BELLEVUE, Wash. — It’s Pride Month and what better way to kick it off than heading outdoors with the family, and that includes your four-legged friends!

This Sunday, Bellevue is hosting Paws & Pride, a large-scale public pride event, for the very first time.

“It’s going to be an amazing way to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, but it’s also a very inclusive event. We’re hoping we have family, friends, and allies to come to the event. We’re encouraging everyone to wear their Pride colors, Trinity Parker, Chair of the Bellevue Downtown Association, said.

There will be booths, music, events for kids, a dog costume competition, and even an after-party. The goal of the event is to bring the Eastside together in support of the LGBTQ+ community.

“It’s really important to have this event in Bellevue because historically, there wasn’t a place on the Eastside for the LGBTQ community to go and feel there was true inclusion, and having this event is a way to celebrate that diversity and to bring our community together,” Corrinalyn Guyett, Vice Chair of Eastside Pride PNW, said.

Part of the proceeds go to the Seattle Humane Society as well as the Lambert House, a safe space for LGBTQ youth.

The 4K is this Sunday, Jun. 4, at Ashwood Park. Set your alarms early because registration starts at 7:30! You can register online at Bellevuedowntown.com.
