Around the Sound: Grand Tasting at the Lumen Field Event Center

SEATTLE — Picture 50 of the region’s finest restaurants and 200 wineries all in one. This weekend you can experience the Grand Tasting at the Lumen Field Event Center.

“It’s called grand for a reason, I’ve done a lot of large-scale events, but never this magnitude. You can try 250 different things and that’s a lot, ” said Cody Westerfield, Head Chef at Bar Miriam.

Westerfield said Bar Miriam is expecting to cook for over 2,000 people. What’s on the menu? Spring onions, leeks, pomegranate, and walnuts, just to name a few ingredients.

“I think the one thing that sets us apart is that we are going to do two different bites — we’re going to do Bar Miriam, what we just described, and the next day something completely different from the Baker’s spring menu,” Westerfield said.

Taste Washington has hand-selected restaurants and wineries to make sure foodies get a true taste of what Northwest gems have to offer. For chef Cody, it’s not only about taste but about the details and presentation.

“I think most of my coworkers, they write a dish based on how they want it to taste, and I start backward. I think about how I want it to look and then work backward,” Westerfield said.

The Grand Tasting is this Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are still available on Tastewashington.org
