After two years away, Seattle Pride unveils ‘Family Reunion’ as theme for parade’s return to 4th Ave

SEATTLE — After two years of virtual festivities, Seattle Pride’s annual Seattle Pride Parade is back in person on Sunday, June 26, and over 400,000 parade-goers are expected.

The theme is “Family Reunion,” and it’s sure to be one to remember, with more than 15,000 individuals and 200 groups marching in the parade.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring our big LGBTQIA+ family of 400,000 attendees back together for the parade after two long years to celebrate and march alongside one another,” said Seattle Pride Executive Director Krystal Marx. “The parade gives our community the opportunity to reconnect and have fun, but also reflect on our past and advocate for a future of equal human rights for all.”

The parade will run along Fourth Avenue, starting at Fourth Avenue and Pike and ending at Second Avenue and Denny Way, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The parade route features three parade stages with ASL interpreters and LGBTQIA+ celebrity announcers, along with three alcohol gardens, located at Westlake Park, Bell Street and Denny Way, and a designated non-alcoholic space for all ages at Lenora Street.

Nikkita Oliver and Gaysha Starr will serve as community-selected grand marshals, along with several LGBTQIA+ front line workers who were selected based on their contributions to their communities.

“This year’s grand marshals are shining examples of our community,” said Marx. “Each of them has made enormous contributions — particularly over the last two years during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are honored to have them lead us in solidarity at the Seattle Pride Parade as we celebrate the present, envision the future and honor our past.”

Accessibility accommodations, including priority seating, ASL interpreters, ADA restrooms and designated assistants to support individuals in accessing food and beverages, will all be available during the parade.

The first two hours of the Seattle Pride Parade will be livestreamed exclusively on KIRO7.com and on the KIRO 7 app. A half-hour special, “Your Voices Celebrates Pride!” will air on KIRO 7 on Saturday, June 25 at 9 p.m. and Sunday, June 26 at 11:35 p.m.
