State Troopers arrested 32 people suspected of driving under the influence this weekend in just King County.
Drivers will continue to see increased patrols around the state Monday because April 20 – or 420 -- the marijuana holiday-- fell on a weekend.
Pierce and Thurston county troopers arrested 20 people Saturday and another four arrests were made on Sunday.
The goal is to prevent crashes such as one where a car plummeted 50 feet down an embankment in Renton in Saturday morning.
The driver wasn't hurt but was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.
Troopers say marijuana use can sometimes be harder to detect and is often not the only problem.
“What we found mostly with cannabis use is it’s not usually (used) by itself. It’s usually with another drug and it just intensifies everything,” said Sgt. David Divis with Washington State Patrol.
Troopers had some extra help on the roads over the weekend.
For the first time in more than a decade, they're using an impaired driving unit.
