MASON COUNTY, Wash. — Two people were taken to the hospital after the steering failed in their car, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and strike a power pole and land on its side inside a carport, Washington State Patrol troopers said.
The collision happened Friday afternoon at 23409 Highway 101 just south of Hoodsport.
The crash caused power lines to come down in the area, troopers said.
Crews with Mason County PUD shut off power so the power and transformer could be replaced. It took crews for about five hours to repair the lines, officials said.
The northbound lane of Highway 101 was closed for the investigation and cleanup.
