2 Hoquiam teenagers face robbery charges after allegedly stealing purse

ABERDEEN, Wash. — Two Hoquiam teenagers are facing robbery charges after allegedly stealing a woman's purse Sunday evening, officials said.

Aberdeen police responded to a reported robbery at the Grocery Outlet around 7:48 p.m. The victim, a 39-year-old woman, told police that two teenagers grabbed her purse with money inside during a reported vehicle purchase and then fled in a gray Acura.

When police were speaking with the woman and her two children, an officer located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect. The officer spoke with the people inside the vehicle who matched the suspect description.

The victim was brought to the car and positively identified the suspects, who were taken into custody and transported to the police station.

During interviews, police determined that the initial purchase involved vaping products and not a vehicle as originally reported. Police located evidence to corroborate the statements but couldn’t find the victim’s purse.

A 17-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were also interviewed, but later released.

The investigation is ongoing.
