2-alarm fire destroys home in Gig Harbor

GIG HARBOR, Wash. — A two-alarm fire ripped through a home late Friday night in Gig Harbor.

At about 10 p.m., firefighters were called to the Canterwood neighborhood where they saw 30% of the roof in flames.

Initially, firefighters took a defensive approach in fighting the flames because it was to dangerous to enter, officials said. However, when they thought someone might have been inside, firefighters went inside but found out moments later the homeowners were out of town.

Although no one was hurt, fire officials said the home was a complete loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
