Police investigate shooting in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood

Gang Unit detectives with the Seattle Police Department are investigating after a man was shot in an alley in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Police said witnesses began calling 911 at 8 p.m. and reported hearing shots fired in the 100 block of Melrose Avenue East.

Arriving officers found a 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his calf, police said.

Police said the 23-year-old man was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

Witnesses told police the shooter was a black male in his 20s wearing a black sweatshirt and gray sweatpants, police said.

Police said the shooter climbed into a silver Toyota Corolla and fled the scene.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Police Department’s violent crimes tip line at (206) 233-5000.
